WHAT IS 27/20?

It is the pastoral vision at BCC to teach through the New Testament (27 books) verse-by-verse over the course of two decades (20 years). Having started in 2011, our expository expedition continues to illuminate our Sunday morning service. From the Gospel of MATTHEW to the Book of REVELATION, all 260 chapters and 7,957 verses in the New Testament are set to be exposited by Pastor Ron and available for download or streaming. Each completed study has also been carefully outlined by Pastor Ron and includes the series synopsis, individual sermon descriptions, and the respective audio MP3s.

WHY EXPOSITION?

Expository preaching involves the comprehensive explanation of Scripture. It puts forth the meaning and intent of a biblical text using studied commentary, illustrations, and examples, thereby making it clear and understandable. The goal of expository preaching is simply to "expose" the meaning of the Bible, verse by verse, in the manner of Ezra and the priestly Levites who "helped people to understand the Law ... [and] read from the book from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading" (Nehemiah 8:7-8).

The Church, both local and universal, is called to place a premium on the study, preaching, and application of sacred Scripture. While biblical exposition is not the only valid mode of preaching, it is the best for teaching the plain sense and full counsel of God's Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 4:2).
